Last week saw the launch of ELPA – Early Learning Photographers Australia, a new industry body focused on supporting photographers working within early learning environments and promoting best practice across the sector.
We’re pleased to support this initiative, which aims to encourage greater professionalism, consistency, and trust within early learning photography, helping to create positive and inclusive experiences for children, families, and educators.

“Early learning photography plays an important role in capturing some of the most
meaningful moments in a child’s early years,” says Elizabeth Teece, President of ELPA. “Through ELPA, we want to help create an industry that families, centres, and photographers can feel confident in, one that is safe, ethical, professional, and child-centred.”
ELPA is focused on promoting:
child-safe and ethical photography practices
positive and engaging photo day experiences
best practice in privacy and data security
clear communication with centres and families
professional standards across the industry
inclusive photography experiences for all children.
As the early learning sector continues to evolve, ELPA also aims to provide guidance, resources, and professional support for photographers working in childcare and kindergarten settings throughout Australia.
“For many photographers working in the early learning sector, there hasn’t always been a clear industry benchmark or support network,” Elizabeth says. “ELPA has been created to help bring the industry together, encourage accountability, and support businesses that are committed to doing things the right way.”
Whether you are an established photography business or new to the early learning sector, becoming an ELPA member is an opportunity to join a growing community committed to raising industry standards and supporting best practice nationwide.
